Purryburry Productions

Purryburry Productions (formally Unico) was formed in 2011 by filmmakers Ryan Unicomb and Jordan Bailey.

The very first project to ever come out of the company was an art house Origin8 fast film 2011 entrant titled 'Paper Plane.' The project was a top 15 finisher; Ryan, Jordan & the rest of the team were all commended on their efforts and most gained further work on other projects around QLD, Australia in the months following. Their time spent on other projects was integral to the successes that followed.

The second project for PP was during the Brisbane 48 hour film project of 2012; a competition that included some much higher calibre film makers than they'd previously gone up against.

The resulting project "A Quest of Utmost Importance" was awarded the Audience Choice Honour & was screened to roughly 150 people on a Vmax theatre in the Brisbane CBD. The feedback was spectacular. Neither Ryan nor Jordan were happy to stop at this point, they wanted to continue to grow the company name and  see just how far they could go.

The third project "Code Name: Cotton" marked the return of Purryburry Productions to the Origin8 Fast Film festival. This time however, Ryan and Jordan had brought along new crew talent to throw at this project.

The fresh new talent in the team along with three spectacular performances from David Breen, Ebony Nave & Ismael Nunez saw Purryburry Productions see it's first official Origin8 top 8 finalist spot as well as walk away with the origin8 award for originality.

Purryburry productions then made "eternalism." A step in a different direction from the timed film festival competitions format. An independently funded short film written/directed by Ryan Unicomb; shot across South East Queensland using a wide variety of locations and talent; the workflow, team & film style of the project had been completely overhauled. PP had dabbled in art house, comedy, fantasy & satyrical dramedy; but "eternalism." was set to be the first legitimate Drama film for PP. It also marked their first step into the science fiction genre and the first time PP would move forward on a project without the involvement of Jordan Bailey.  The short film was shot throughout October 2013.

The first screening responses to  'eternalism' were outstanding. The film was sent of to festivals in hopes of finding an audience. The short had it's world premier at the 2013 Festival De Cannes, courtesy of the festivals Court Metragè. Ryan and Eternalism producer Darwin Brooks travelled with the film to France and were actively involved in the Cannes Film Festival for 3 weeks. It has since been accepted/Invited to screen at the Jagran Indian Film Festival, the Amsterdam Inspire Film Festival and the British Independant Film Festival.

In November 2012, Ryan travelled to Sydney and worked as a part of second unit on Marvel/Fox blockbuster THE WOLVERINE; then followed that up with some assistant directing work on feature film THE SUICIDE THEORY.

The team has grown in numbers since the beginning of 2013, adding concept artists, visual effects artists, editors and producers to the team.

In July of 2013, after a short stint on NBC universal tv series CAMP; Ryan and the team began preProduction on their follow up to Eternalism, a super hero film called GIFTED to be shot in 2014.

Ryan was also accepted into the Australian Directors Guild in 2013, a sign that he is well respected amongst his filmmaking peers.

More details to come.
